Seven Mates. One building history.

Building Memory™

The technician leaves. The Building Memory™ stays.

Building Memory™ is the durable, evidence-backed history of a physical property. It is the product inside the Mates, designed to carry useful context across changes of workers, vendors, managers, systems, and equipment.

Building Memory™ and the Mates are being developed by 5K TAC. Confirm current availability and supported features with our team before planning an implementation.

More than a folder of reports

A report is useful evidence. Building Memory™ connects that evidence to the building, place, system, asset, event, and outcome it describes. Original records retain their context while the understanding of them can improve.

Drawings, photographs, inspection reports, service records, scans, and voice observations provide starting material. The purpose is to help the next decision begin with evidence rather than another search through disconnected files.

Start with the history you already have

  1. Establish the building context

Identify the property, places, systems, assets, and relevant responsibilities.

  2. Connect existing evidence

Bring forward useful reports, drawings, service history, and field observations with their original sources.

  3. Preserve new work and outcomes

Keep the work, changes, and verification connected to the building so the next participant has a stronger starting point.

Atlas connects evidence and understanding

Atlas is designed to connect building history with governed technical knowledge, relevant authority, and the user’s permitted context. Observation, interpretation, verified outcomes, and unknown information remain distinct.

A missing record is an evidence gap. It is not automatically proof that work was neglected or that a building is noncompliant.

The direction: Infrastructure Intelligence

Infrastructure Intelligence is the long-term direction: enough trustworthy history and context to help people understand what happened, what matters now, and what may need attention next. It is a product direction, not a claim that every forecasting capability is available today.

Seven views of one continuing history

PortfolioMates

A clear view for owners and property managers. Bring building condition, maintenance, compliance, vendor activity and service history into a portfolio you can understand.

ComplianceMates

Bring inspections, requirements, deficiencies and supporting evidence into one building-level picture. Organize corrective actions, due dates and verification so follow-up starts with context.

MaintenanceMates

A practical Mate for daily building care, preventive maintenance, routine repairs and asset lookup. Preserve useful context through photos, voice notes and scans during the work.

LifeSafetyMates

A Mate for fire alarms, sprinklers, suppression, extinguishers and emergency or exit systems. Connect technical context with inspection evidence and service history.

MechanicalMates

A Mate for HVAC, boilers, chillers, air handlers, pumps, hydronics and controls. Bring equipment context, troubleshooting and service evidence together.

UtilitiesMates

A Mate for electrical and plumbing infrastructure, utility feeds, distribution, generators, water and shutoffs. Keep asset context connected to work and service history.

ProtectionMates

A Mate for security, access control, video surveillance, intrusion and intercom systems. Preserve equipment context, field observations and service history.

Questions about Building Memory™

What is Building Memory™?

Building Memory™ is the product inside the seven Mates: a durable, evidence-backed history of a physical property. It connects what exists, what happened, what changed, what was learned, and what remains unknown.

Is Building Memory™ an eighth Mate?

No. Building Memory™ sits inside PortfolioMates, ComplianceMates, MaintenanceMates, LifeSafetyMates, MechanicalMates, UtilitiesMates, and ProtectionMates. Each Mate offers a different view of the same continuing history.

What does Atlas do?

Atlas is the intelligence being built across Building Memory™ and governed technical knowledge. Its intended role is to help people reason with building context, relevant sources, and clear uncertainty. The evidence, rather than model confidence, supports the conclusion.

Does it replace our existing software?

The design is to work alongside existing inspection, maintenance, field-service, and building systems. Their reports and records can provide evidence for Building Memory™; immediate replacement is not the entry requirement.

Who is responsible for the building history?

Owners and property managers act as custodians of the building history. Access and contribution are intended to reflect each participant’s role and permissions.

Can we use every described feature today?

The platform is being developed. These pages explain the intended product and workflows. Ask 5K TAC to confirm current availability and supported capabilities for your building.
